Uploading Inventory FAQ

This document walks you through how to upload your inventory to VirtCert.com. If you are a retailer who does not maintain your own inventory, you do not need to read this section.

Go to VirtCert.com, and Click on the Wholesaler Tools page on the left side of the screen.

Click on the Upload Your Inventory link.

Enter the file name of your inventory file.
If you are following the Excel Spreadsheet directions, enter C:\DIAMONDS.TXT
Click on the Then Click Here to Upload the File button.
Your inventory file will be uploaded.
NOTE: Your screen may not move for several minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection while the file is uploaded.

You will see a screen providing Warning and/or Error messages that tell you of any problems that VirtCert finds in your data file.
We suggest that you print out this page and use it to correct your data. You can either stop at this point and fix any problems, or continue installing the file and fix it later.
Your old data is still active at this point, unless you INSTALL your new file!

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, past any messages and you will see a Summary of your data file.
The first line (Recieved) shows how many records (lines) were uploaded to VirtCert.com.
The second line (Wrote) shows how many records were acceptable to our database system.
The third line (Warnings) shows how many "minor" problems there were in your data file. Records with Warnings are added to the database when you Install the file.
The fourth line (Errors) show how many "major" problems were found in your data file. Records with Errors are not included in the database when you Install the file.

Click on the Install this as your database link, and the file that you uploaded will be installed as your new inventory on VirtCert.com, and made instantly available to all members you have given access to your database.

IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE FILE, YOUR OLD DATA WILL STILL BE ON THE SYSTEM.

When your new database is installed, it will give you a summary of what was done.
Your new data file will overwrite your previous inventory, and be active on all member web sites that you have given access to your data.

That's it! You're done!
